Facebook Favorite???

I have had so many nice comments on this layout that I posted on facebook yesterday, that I thought I should put it up here too!

I made this layout for the Scrapbookin' Adventures facebook challenge. It was to use the colours grey, yellow, white and a turquoise/seafoam kinda colour.

Love this. I started with a plain white sheet of American Crafts cardstock. I sprayed it with some Mister Hueys mist in Taxi. I used some border strips of the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook papers. Added the photo and some Heidi Swapp neon washi tape. The flower was made with a sheet of cardstock also from that Amy Tangerine collection and the Lifestyle Crafts 'nesting flower' die. I added a brad from the Sketchbook collection. The title is done with Thickers (I do believe they are also from the Sketchbook collection!). Then I inked the edge of the whole thing with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and added a doodle border.

A Challenge and a 'Lift'

The challenge at Crop Chocolate was a pretty simple one this week. Use the colours blue, green and white. No problem! And then as I was browsing blogs this morning, I saw a fantastic layout that I just had to lift! Check it out on the Doodlebug blog. It is the last layout in the post.

Love how this turned out!

Everything but the doily were all purchased at Crop Chocolate!  Love that Doodlebug 'Snips & Snails' collection and the softer colour of the Carta Bella kraft cardstock.

Thanks for looking!

PageMaps Sketch Challenge

Have I mentioned before that I love Becky Fleck and the PageMaps blog?! Well, she has another sketch contest going on so here is my entry for it!

This is what the sketch looked like.

I decided to go with one big picture and then stretched the other elements out a bit more to make room for it. Kinda wishing I had inked the papers in grey to make them pop a bit. And I dug into my button stash and used some of the great white "vintage" ones I found at the thrift store! Love pretty buttons!

You have until January 27th to enter!

Supplies:
Carta Bella - 'Paris Girl' collection
Thickers
Buttons from my stash
Pink ink

I think my favorite by far is the line of decorative tapes the My Mind's Eye is releasing! I love the new paper lines they are bringing out too, but the these tape basics are just so awesome!

Aren't those just gorgeous! I NEED that navy set!!! Those photo's are from the My Mind's Eye blog. You can check out all the new releases there or on their website!

And yes, this post is for a contest that MME is hosting. But I love their products and have a TON of them so everything I said is the TRUTH!!!

So we are supposed to include, and I quote, "5 fun facts about yourself." I'm gonna add in an eyeroll and huge dramatic sigh right here.....

5 fun facts about myself....let's see......

1. I'm a Taurus. 100%. hee hee.
2. I have a sweet tooth the size of my head
3. and a salt tooth to match ;)
4. I've lived in the same town my whole life
5. My wedding cake was a pumpkin cheesecake. Mmmmmm, cheesecake.....

And my headshot....

Okay, clearly I am a very boring person. Let's all move on to the projects I used for the Design Team tryout.

 This first project is layout that I did of my husband's family. The people in the picture are his sister and her children and his cousins and her daughters. This is what I submitted as a project that reflects me as a crafter. These photos were taken at my husband’s Oma & Opa’s house shortly after Oma had passed away (Opa passes a few years before that). I feel this reflects my style well. The layout is a little simpler than my ‘normal’ but the intent is the same. I like to keep the focus on the pictures. These pictures were so special that I really did not want to distract from them with too many embellishments. This is how most of my layouts are. The focus is on the photos and the story they tell. I add journaling when extra details are needed or when cute stories don’t want to be forgotten. I want my children to cherish these albums when they are much older. I want them to be able to look back and remember the special moments, the funny moments, maybe even a few sad moments. I want them to see these albums and realize how important they themselves are to me and my story. {CC Supplies: Fancy Pants “Summers End” papers and rub ons} {Other Supplies: Pink Paislee Alphas}

The other project I submitted was my 'out of the box' project. For this I used the project that was also my November project for the previous Design Team. So most of you have probably already seen it. It is the toddler painted canvas embellished for Thanksgiving. This is out of the box for me because I let my two year old loose with paint and brushes!!! And, I don’t do a lot of home décor projects, just the odd banner and what not. I also do not like to do projects that can’t be finished in a day (or two at the most). This one took a bit longer. I used my Cricut a LOT for it. I really should use it more. I also cut vinyl with my Cricut for the first time! So while this may not look like an ‘out of the box’ project, the work that went into it was out of the box for me. {CC Supplies: Cricut “Stretch Your Imagination;” MM Slice binyl; Teresa Collins “Giving Thanks” paper (from grab bag); EP “Happy Halloween” papers} {Other Supplies: canvas; paint}

Thank you for hopping along! You're next stop is Polly's blog here: http://pazasproductions.blogspot.com/

And don't forget that the blog hop runs from January 11th until January 14 8pm MST.
