Crazy for Snow!

We live on the West Coast, so we don't see a lot of snow in the winter and the first snowfall of the year is always so exciting! Lucky for me, I was able to capture the look of (crazy) excitement on my eldest daughter's face. It only takes a light dusting of the white stuff to get my kids excited!

I used the colours chosen for the Scrapbookin' Adventures newest challenge; robin's egg blue, hot pink, leaf green, navy blue and kraft. I also used the October 2013 sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker. It's one that I have had pinned for a while and am happy to have had a chance to use it!

These bright colours are hard to photograph! I love how this turned out. The little touches of navy make me happy!

Um Wow Studio ~ March Sketch

It was so nice to spend a rainy Saturday working on some layouts! And it was really nice to finally have a chance to work with Um Wow Studio's March sketch. I did a little digging to find just the right picture for this one. I came across a set that I have been wanting to scrap for a little while now.

I love the look on his face in the center picture! Clearly he is also not amused by daddy's handiwork. As you can see, I stuck pretty close to the sketch. I just enlarged the photos and shifted it to the edge of the page and then moved the embellishments beside the photo over further so that I could include a larger title. And I added a spot where I could include the details of my son's terrible hair cut!

Canadian Scrapbooker ~ March Sketch

Another month and another sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. This sketch was a challenge for me to embellish! Those triangles were just not working for me! Maybe because I had switched the orientation of the photo and made the scalloped edge the sketch has into a much smaller feature.

I love the how this layout turned out! I was originally going to try to keep everything in a grey/black/white colour theme and let the colour from the photo jump out but it just wasn't working for me. I think the black paper I was using was just too much. So I added in the pretty light blue and it just came together.

The papers are all from the Fancy Pants 'Park Bench' collection. I added in some washi and enamel dots along with those cute Doodlebug alphas and a flair badge from Um Wow Studio. And I had to dig way back into my stash to find those black photo corners! I have had them forever but this is the first time I have used them. For some reason I felt like this layout really needed them!

Birthday Boy!

A quick post here with the layout I completed for Scrapbookin' Adventures facebook challenge. The current challenge is  a great 2 page layout. I love getting a stack of photos taken care of in one go! And I just happened to have these photos sitting out waiting to be used!

The papers are an older MME line called Lime Twist 'Fly a Kite.' I love going through my stash and finding older collections that I still love! I also added some thickers and some enamel dots from various manufacturers.

A Birthday Mini

Well, I hope this post was worth the wait! I haven't had a chance to do any new layouts. Too many busy days and weekends! But I had to get this mini album done for my oldest daughter's birthday. She turns 10 this weekend, which is a pretty big deal (when you are the one turning ten). I had seen someone else do this same idea for their daughter's 10th birthday and I knew I had to do it too!

I used a lot of different products but I didn't keep track, so if there is anything you want to know about, just ask!. The papers are all MME 'Unforgettable' (from the Collectable collection).

I even made an envelope to store it in. I think this is also going to serve as her birthday card, cause I am out of time to make her one now!

Now back to my 2014 goal of more layouts than 2013!!!

Canadian Scrapbooker February Sketch

I do believe that this the first (or maybe second?) time I have joined in on the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's monthly sketch challenge. And I have to confess, it was not the sketch that attracted me. Honestly, it's not really my 'style.' BUT, the first layout I saw with it was just so fantastic that I had to give it a try. And... I LOVE my layout! Love it!

The circle background really wasn't doing anything for me until I saw this amazing layout by Sue Sykes.

Splish Splash

No scrapping for me last week. It was one of those crazy, won't ever end kinda weeks. But I am back at it again this week.

This layout was done the for Scrapbookin' Adventures facebook challenge. After a short break they are back at it again. And am I so happy cause I need that motivation! Challenge #1 was to use embossed paper. I ran the white strip of paper through a polka dot embossing folder a few times. I love how it looks as a background for the photos.
