I think this time may be the time though. I did 3 layouts yesterday! The one I am sharing today is for the Scrapbookin' Adventures facebook challenge. The new challenge is an easy one: use a fall theme. I love scrapping fall photos and I have lots of those to catch up on! I also used the sketch from their last challenge (that I didn't get done).<br />

It's pretty clean and simple, but I love the mix of patterns.<br />

I need these kids of mine to get back to school so I can get back on track here. The joys of a teacher's strike. School ended 2 weeks early and so far is going on 1 week into the new school year....<br />
<br />
<br />
But I do have a couple of things to share today. One is super exciting! Who has picked up a copy of the fall Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine? Recognize anything in there???<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWSCk0xP7Bs5HhAuOQifc77FFpTVaMTJE2vRE3ro4eO_uGrwGeU6l9g-EBLt1qHkt2pNtQxSEONFW_-EZmY6EZucKwJDto6EpAJ8m9Z4WSNi9dB2R2Gg0zIL6_boHbB3fu4mQoIGHS835/s1600/magazinecollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWSCk0xP7Bs5HhAuOQifc77FFpTVaMTJE2vRE3ro4eO_uGrwGeU6l9g-EBLt1qHkt2pNtQxSEONFW_-EZmY6EZucKwJDto6EpAJ8m9Z4WSNi9dB2R2Gg0zIL6_boHbB3fu4mQoIGHS835/s1600/magazinecollage.jpg" height="386" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
That's right!!! Page 45 has a back to school layout from me! Seriously SO exciting! This is (obviously) my first time being published.<br />
<br />
The second thing is a card I made with my sister for a wedding she is attending this weekend. We used a sketch from Card Maps 4.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuXlh65_WUOtetGnH-YsPz0-xBipTr2RttbJsCZrMr95FJSaRQ1Mc5vUjAPhOtARcbf2Tjpc9ehvD0R44R2k-Ywc2v1M3tLU4IrjG0kFpuycyJrJTQahufKyUiKbJKYWhPDhuM600mLoS6/s1600/wedding+card+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuXlh65_WUOtetGnH-YsPz0-xBipTr2RttbJsCZrMr95FJSaRQ1Mc5vUjAPhOtARcbf2Tjpc9ehvD0R44R2k-Ywc2v1M3tLU4IrjG0kFpuycyJrJTQahufKyUiKbJKYWhPDhuM600mLoS6/s1600/wedding+card+collage.jpg" height="400" width="353" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the hexagons and colours on this card. We even added a few on the inside.<br />
<br />
Now hopefully this dispute is settled soon and I can have my sanity and crafty time back!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Back again with the August sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker. For this layout I did things a little differently than I normally do. I knew I really wanted to use the Solstice papers from Pink Paislee so I had to find a picture that worked with them. My eldest daughter has just finished a week of sailing camp so I looked through those photos and then added a vintage filter to it before printing.<br />
<br />
The sketch:<br />

I love the title on top of the photo like that! I just wish I had started the journaling up one line. Ah well.<br />

I'm just trying to keep up with the challenges that I like to do now. This is the most recent challenge from Scrapbookin' Adventures. This challenge was to scraplift a past challenge entry. I chose an Easter layout from the Spring themed challenge. I won't post the original here since it's not mine, but if you are curious you will find it <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154060499010375&set=o.155893581118637&type=1" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
My layout:<br />

<br />
It was fun to pull out a bunch of newer summer product from my stash and one of my favorite photos from last summer!<br />

I like to use the layout sketches provided with the kit to make some quick and easy layouts. But this time I decided to switch up a few of the papers to make it more "me." I purchased the kit last summer as well and made the layouts as instructed but when I see them in my album I am not thrilled with some of the colour choices (so much red and yellow).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg487nh6CRY3dk45vAIkAuD8a_IBT-ilFJW-viW42hBt6L_ENXSuwQBB35y2u2k53HhDDSpYPfmFy1qPUpxAwNrTJY_dkmTEV88NJruef4pqpNVqjF0brXRlhtNsywLYdCehiJuw3SNp6bU/s1600/2014_07_23_8810-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg487nh6CRY3dk45vAIkAuD8a_IBT-ilFJW-viW42hBt6L_ENXSuwQBB35y2u2k53HhDDSpYPfmFy1qPUpxAwNrTJY_dkmTEV88NJruef4pqpNVqjF0brXRlhtNsywLYdCehiJuw3SNp6bU/s1600/2014_07_23_8810-text.jpg" height="400" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
This one was supposed to have a very red cardstock as the background and the strip of paper airplanes was supposed to be other side of the paper which was more a paper airplane blueprint. Everything else I kept the same! It really is a fun layout!<br />
<br />
I hope to get a the double layout done next but will be changing some colours again. Too much yellow.....<br />
<br />

I'm back! We all survived our driving half way across Canada road trip and I've managed to find a little scrappy time again.<br />
<br />
Scrapbookin' Adventures posted a new challenge while I was away, but luckily they run for two weeks so I still had time to get an entry in. The challenge is a card sketch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t1.0-9/p417x417/10559716_723264177714905_5130514229146855993_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Photo: Time for our next challenge ....
CHALLENGE #13: sketch
Everyone loves a sketch right?! Well, this week we're throwing something different your way ... a card sketch!! This doesn't mean you have to make a card ... it can be a layout too! Use your imagination and creativity; expand the sketch, add photos, etc.
The deadline to post your card or layout is 9pm on Sunday, July 27. Everyone is welcome to participate, full rules and guidelines can be found under 'Notes'. Everyone who posts a project will get their name entered into the draw for a prize pack ... and remember, the more people who enter the bigger the prize is, so tell your crafty friends!
We can't wait to see your take on this sketch!

<br />
This would make a very pretty card but I decided to remain focused on my scrapbooks so I turned it into a layout.<br />
<br />
I decided to combine it with the <a href="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/showgallery.php?cat=538" target="_blank">July sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker</a> which is pretty much exactly how I planned to turn the card sketch into a layout. I have never combined sketch challenges before, so hopefully I'm not breaking any laws.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/data/538/medium/07_JUL2014SKETCH.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="July 2014 Sketch" border="0" height="320" src="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/data/538/medium/07_JUL2014SKETCH.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I just rotated the sketch to match the card sketch moved the title and embellies to suit my layout.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpzsbC-29zTpnAdo8z0eKX4zrY01BuvofrUM18y3Q_T8SOLNltoVyt-QJYYvwaSMT86a8FcvjSONKS5L944JiGP1Pwik6hd4GX030GXibJgl5-QeRmWccONshznPSU4CO6MZIVlLnjskQW/s1600/2014_07_23_8812-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpzsbC-29zTpnAdo8z0eKX4zrY01BuvofrUM18y3Q_T8SOLNltoVyt-QJYYvwaSMT86a8FcvjSONKS5L944JiGP1Pwik6hd4GX030GXibJgl5-QeRmWccONshznPSU4CO6MZIVlLnjskQW/s1600/2014_07_23_8812-text.jpg" height="397" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The title may seem a little odd, but those are the words that run through my head every time I see these pictures. I'll have to give the sketch a try as a card to.<br />

I managed to sneak in a quick crafting session this afternoon, but I won't be doing anything for the next 2 weeks, except filling in my summer journal with lots of notes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJQ7aQgMiuqGVqwBtCwCIi-9Pr-bveHLpmfWS1U5GXTGhw4HTnQasdwqs0UWu-H2vZoQ8EM4Yj4WIKD784jbSYQvn8cZL4ar9OhbX6y3Kj5xbe1Kpba48KtMLmWcFYI4icKVQZwhuwgtw/s1600/2014_06_30_8578-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBJQ7aQgMiuqGVqwBtCwCIi-9Pr-bveHLpmfWS1U5GXTGhw4HTnQasdwqs0UWu-H2vZoQ8EM4Yj4WIKD784jbSYQvn8cZL4ar9OhbX6y3Kj5xbe1Kpba48KtMLmWcFYI4icKVQZwhuwgtw/s1600/2014_06_30_8578-text.jpg" height="400" width="396" /></a></div>
<br />
This layout is for the new Scrapbookin' Adventures challenge that was posted today. It is a super simple one, just a summer theme. I used a mix of Bella Blvd papers, Thickers, Webster's Pages alphas and an AC cork sticker.<br />
<br />
Hopefully this won't be my only layout for the month of July, but we'll see how it goes!<br />

She is going to be a baby shower and saw this cute idea online. And she found a couple of easy to follow tutorials too. I don't have the links, but I'm sure if you did a search they would be easy enough to find (tip: use one that uses a round cake pan to form the wheels).<br />

This turned out soooo much cuter than I thought it would! And we came up with the idea for using a facecloth for a bow on the front. I think it so much cuter than a ribbon bow (or the one that had nothing). We also covered a tp tube with a face cloth to hide where the receive blanket joined between the back tires. I guess the blankets we used were not as long theirs.<br />
<br />
If you have any questions about how we did it or what we used, please ask!<br />

The challenge this week is to use just 5 products: patterned paper; alpha stickers; wood veneer; flower and ink.<br />
<br />
The sketch:<br />

I'm wishing I had used a bolder alpha for the title now, but it's still pretty cute.<br />

Scrapbookin' Adventures newest facebook challenge is to interview someone and create a layout about it. Lucky for me, I just happened to have "interviewed" my son last summer but had yet to do anything with the info.<br />

<br />
This was so much fun! I'm going to have to remember to do another interview with the same questions next month and see what has changed!<br />

This is actually the very first pop-up card that I have made, but I couldn't share it until after the birthday.<br />

<br />
This card took a lot longer than the second one to make. I pulled out my Big Shot and cut out flowers and butterflies to go on it. And also the panel with Happy Birthday on it.<br />

And of course a matching envelope. I added the leftover die cut butterflies to it too.<br />

I have 2 birthday's happening this week (not counting my own!), so I thought this would be the perfect time to try!<br />
<br />
This is the second one I made (I will show you the first, after I have given it to the birthday girl), and I kept the embellishments fairly simple. I used the embellishments that came with the collection.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5eUvEQOvTN_JJxFYxr6DCOhjIOOOJAb_gi8FtEy-PE_5wYCzmc_W9BBnOJpjU0tHhvPOv_WO3xaqLeoBBLq2k7YH-vFbn8q_P6FtIHfmXuL4MCGkIpjyzLEv4g0hO2KW6muHBl13SXVNf/s1600/2014_05_21_8331-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5eUvEQOvTN_JJxFYxr6DCOhjIOOOJAb_gi8FtEy-PE_5wYCzmc_W9BBnOJpjU0tHhvPOv_WO3xaqLeoBBLq2k7YH-vFbn8q_P6FtIHfmXuL4MCGkIpjyzLEv4g0hO2KW6muHBl13SXVNf/s1600/2014_05_21_8331-text.jpg" height="377" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This card makes me happy to look at! It is so darn cheerful!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjomMp-FZMKaT_c5Zc0VhmDIcbTZmlDekWAmh7MiTwAAQPcHWj0iCJqjMXRk2j1M3P0-2IpQ7lOYaP2oaHdvOk-zq4_YYf2BtwtI5R-2XFfSUoWAbSb9vp6H7E_nEVWH4z1M8Djdp0IOx-j/s1600/2014_05_21_8333-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjomMp-FZMKaT_c5Zc0VhmDIcbTZmlDekWAmh7MiTwAAQPcHWj0iCJqjMXRk2j1M3P0-2IpQ7lOYaP2oaHdvOk-zq4_YYf2BtwtI5R-2XFfSUoWAbSb9vp6H7E_nEVWH4z1M8Djdp0IOx-j/s1600/2014_05_21_8333-text.jpg" height="373" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I even made a matching envelope. I love my envelope punch board!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhphaiwhzp6jtoxfYr9ig8Fam1sZ3-9uXRG-ti-0ESV8RC7k9dOf4K0KoJuJtnLghymPa7XyaND4m14XFEhIiejSmyP2RX48gtpqLEfhROr5EZ3b-kOAEHbig51vFvUnDg7zZQEukn3hHxz/s1600/2014_05_21_8342.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhphaiwhzp6jtoxfYr9ig8Fam1sZ3-9uXRG-ti-0ESV8RC7k9dOf4K0KoJuJtnLghymPa7XyaND4m14XFEhIiejSmyP2RX48gtpqLEfhROr5EZ3b-kOAEHbig51vFvUnDg7zZQEukn3hHxz/s1600/2014_05_21_8342.JPG" height="307" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used the tutorial for pop-up cards from Splitcoast Stampers. <a href="http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/popupboxcard/" target="_blank">You can find it here </a>if you would like to give it a try! And they really are very simple to make. I had the base for this second done in about 10 minutes. And that includes the time it took me to pick out the paper!<br />
<br />
I used Echo Park's Summer Days collection to make this card. The papers, cardstock stickers, alphas and even the thicker cardboard stickers (sun and roller-coaster).<br />
<br />

I have some pretty fun birthday cards to post later this week, but for now I will share with you the card I made a mistake on and didn't notice until after I had given it away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I have seen quite a few versions of a pocket card floating around the internet and I really wanted to try one with flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfZcR5W-4O1XeP_v97xMz5gYq6wjVHv5JtETPKS-eF8Ms45SalXZViYOThCU7xsv0gIKAUYyDjfijjemSTfF6eHonDjl53W_3RTEqBKUl5XwN8VG37Vb066oW3v_T3ZgAN9DeoDvyh2nhY/s1600/2014_05_05_8301.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfZcR5W-4O1XeP_v97xMz5gYq6wjVHv5JtETPKS-eF8Ms45SalXZViYOThCU7xsv0gIKAUYyDjfijjemSTfF6eHonDjl53W_3RTEqBKUl5XwN8VG37Vb066oW3v_T3ZgAN9DeoDvyh2nhY/s1600/2014_05_05_8301.JPG" height="320" width="234" /></a></div>
<br />
So cute! I even prettied up the inside!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGpPRCaZY6S54Nb-_-LdlqTwSPvDx7EvcadOy6TYdjwyoQK-yvehmCNMfjwSOFYQpcFPy5suTXCRtn6_BHJgrWRPzTeygTrBKzmgFVVxDdHI2TLE4N1-19ZbUP4XBPyAQBjgrKR4apBl4_/s1600/2014_05_05_8299.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGpPRCaZY6S54Nb-_-LdlqTwSPvDx7EvcadOy6TYdjwyoQK-yvehmCNMfjwSOFYQpcFPy5suTXCRtn6_BHJgrWRPzTeygTrBKzmgFVVxDdHI2TLE4N1-19ZbUP4XBPyAQBjgrKR4apBl4_/s1600/2014_05_05_8299.JPG" height="320" width="299" /></a></div>
<br />
Did you spot my mistake??? Did I mention I made this card for our amazing Brownie leader, who just happens to also be a teacher??? So embarrassing!!!<br />
<br />
With the magic of PicMonkey, this is how it should have looked:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7OX-gBArrcn2lY1KiE1TTXsTVzU6KT0JjqLCXU0rR_EgTUaPBB4WKZ4y13Wn1zENocV1mjnPGOK8qa7RosuF-qU1XtSgPPn9IzgPsfsNE38lKIz55NK3n8O2D5NCQNAMc7QsQdsR8_dWD/s1600/2014_05_05_8301-fixed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7OX-gBArrcn2lY1KiE1TTXsTVzU6KT0JjqLCXU0rR_EgTUaPBB4WKZ4y13Wn1zENocV1mjnPGOK8qa7RosuF-qU1XtSgPPn9IzgPsfsNE38lKIz55NK3n8O2D5NCQNAMc7QsQdsR8_dWD/s1600/2014_05_05_8301-fixed.jpg" height="320" width="234" /></a></div>
<br />
Oops! I can't be the only person to have made a silly mistake like this, right???<br />
<br />
The papers for this card are all from Simple Stories (last year's summer line, I believe).<br />
<br />

</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Since I first used this sketch for such a small (8x8) layout, I thought it would be nice to give it a try at my usual size (12x12). Of course the 3 photos I want to use are in a vertical orientation, so I had to switch things up a bit to make them work.<br />
<br />
The sketch (from Scrapbookin' Adventures):<br />
<br />

<br />
I used papers and an overlay from the Fancy Pant's Design collection 'Be You.' I love that green colour.<br />

<div style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;">
</div>
ETA: I forgot that I also wanted to add this layout to the National Scrapbooking Day challenge, "<b style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 23.920000076293945px;"><a href="http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2014/05/national-scrapbook-day-scrapbooking.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Scrapbooking Rocks Challenge in </span></a></b><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; line-height: 23.920000076293945px;"><a href="http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2014/05/national-scrapbook-day-scrapbooking.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;">the Moxie Fab World</span></a><span style="font-size: xx-small;">."</span></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I printed the May sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker last week, and have looked at it a few times trying to think of a way to make it's "messy" look work for me. It was tough, and I may have strayed a bit far from the sketch, but I think you still get the same feel.<br />
<br />
The sketch:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/data/535/thumbs/05_MAY2014SKETCH.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="05_MAY2014SKETCH.jpg" border="0" src="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/data/535/thumbs/05_MAY2014SKETCH.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My layout:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7gPYM_nspbHj0_AnVZKhxnA9__kallPUqGBEfQzUQo41L0-3l1netlRc6SeP560UAa3e6FF0n-W341-y0K3fLeCPt1OUHd_3ocqATmbPxhTYV9IL187dq7xh-glYAIZOhce1VcmCuIiYH/s1600/2014_05_14_8321-text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7gPYM_nspbHj0_AnVZKhxnA9__kallPUqGBEfQzUQo41L0-3l1netlRc6SeP560UAa3e6FF0n-W341-y0K3fLeCPt1OUHd_3ocqATmbPxhTYV9IL187dq7xh-glYAIZOhce1VcmCuIiYH/s1600/2014_05_14_8321-text.jpg" height="315" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see, I switched the patches underneath for photos. You can also see that I straightened the photos on the bottom layer and let the top photo fall askew. I tried my hardest to make it work the other way, but it just wasn't happening for me. I also added a skewed paper underneath the photos to add a bit more of that same feeling from the sketch.<br />
<br />
If you want to play along, you can see the sketch <a href="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/showgallery.php?cat=535" target="_blank">here</a> and also find the previous sketches!<br />
<br />
The papers are all Amy Tan 'Plus One' and the alphas are from Doodlebug :)<br />

I have a small album (8x8) that I am currently using for the girl's birthday photo layouts. It is a little bigger than the the first album which is just 6x6 and is also how I started scrapbooking. :)<br />
<br />
So I shrunk the sketch down to fit an 8x8. It lost a few elements but kept the same feel.<br />
<br />The sketch:<br />

The first is a quick Easter card I whipped up last week. Well, not as quick as I hoped. I'm really out of practice with the card making and find that I am really not enjoying making them anymore!<br />
<br />
Sorry for the awful picture. I just snapped a couple of quick ones before taking it to Easter dinner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYkWw088eW2sUNKhKRY1rlBIAMfQ4OPyGM4LqQwR2xB3T-sFHfnZ18Ms4ZbOnp-BQMPziPRzza5ZTL_k2EKj2_XTEWoRMBEC3IH6T6raKFQnUgDmOKFrqYx87HJOqa_u5uufb8JxUO6G7x/s1600/2014_04_20_8268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYkWw088eW2sUNKhKRY1rlBIAMfQ4OPyGM4LqQwR2xB3T-sFHfnZ18Ms4ZbOnp-BQMPziPRzza5ZTL_k2EKj2_XTEWoRMBEC3IH6T6raKFQnUgDmOKFrqYx87HJOqa_u5uufb8JxUO6G7x/s1600/2014_04_20_8268.JPG" height="320" width="293" /></a></div>
<br />
I used an embossing folder on white cardstock and some old Imaginisce spring papers. And some of the pretty lace in my stash.<br />
<br />
The next project is for the Scrapbookin' Adventures facebook page challenge. The latest challenge is to do a spring project. So I did a double layout with some Easter pictures from 2012. I used a PageMaps sketch from the Spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today.<br />

This challenge was to re-cover something. We have about 3 or 4 mugs sitting around the house with change and other bits and pieces in them so I thought this would be a good chance to spring clean that clutter!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiveSoXXJcMJk0kjheh2K_s7KpPzZwRYXM-5fkXcZ7-PzFFbl2HCFjfMFARnuK8Pn2n4hRdgZz0PVCVCRqLSsnEKii2_wWK3xmP9Ix4ABRkdbtqXPCVsSsK7u0wPo7ycXqycyD48Ght3Okh/s1600/2014_04_15_8207.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiveSoXXJcMJk0kjheh2K_s7KpPzZwRYXM-5fkXcZ7-PzFFbl2HCFjfMFARnuK8Pn2n4hRdgZz0PVCVCRqLSsnEKii2_wWK3xmP9Ix4ABRkdbtqXPCVsSsK7u0wPo7ycXqycyD48Ght3Okh/s1600/2014_04_15_8207.JPG" height="320" width="284" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfobwe-gLJcX0cZjmIin5XaQGGfDBU9mUM_Txmml38duYSdcYahMQeWgWs8M7bjBWHcC8TIcFSOPdGCaxpqbENr53inv5m4SY1fqp72H-673JKug-4BpreE-iW1iur80TSV6dkW4SfBQZq/s1600/2014_04_15_8210.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfobwe-gLJcX0cZjmIin5XaQGGfDBU9mUM_Txmml38duYSdcYahMQeWgWs8M7bjBWHcC8TIcFSOPdGCaxpqbENr53inv5m4SY1fqp72H-673JKug-4BpreE-iW1iur80TSV6dkW4SfBQZq/s1600/2014_04_15_8210.JPG" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Jars are not easy to photograph! I wanted to keep this fairly simple so that it will last a little while! I wrapped the jar with a piece of paper from Fancy Pant's Trendsetter line; punched a circle of paper from the same line for the lid; wrapped the lid in a denim ribbon (to hide the bright red and yellow metal); added a few pieces of washi tape; wrapped some jute around the jar; and then stuck on a couple of wood butterflies.<br />
<br />
Scrapbookin' Adventures had this same challenge way back in 2012. I thought I'd share a pic of the card box that I recovered for that one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3lNle5XZa4fpTOf9f-heQfhUhZSJgJHlARxN5TnWfeHOSe7H0DPxQ2N24ZIprFM5z3Bk3GztRkgzcGwaoRVTyPXSZH2ZIfhffK_s0giMrg9SK4O3Frqr3uOOlZPKsuaF5aNI4ivxOPq4_/s1600/cardbox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3lNle5XZa4fpTOf9f-heQfhUhZSJgJHlARxN5TnWfeHOSe7H0DPxQ2N24ZIprFM5z3Bk3GztRkgzcGwaoRVTyPXSZH2ZIfhffK_s0giMrg9SK4O3Frqr3uOOlZPKsuaF5aNI4ivxOPq4_/s1600/cardbox.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I still use this one. It quickly became too small to hold the cards and tags I have made, so it now holds store bought cards (I still have a few of those kicking around).<br />
<br />

This month's sketch at the <a href="http://umwowstudio.blogspot.ca/2014/04/april-challenge.html" target="_blank">UmWow Studio</a> blog is another great one and I was eager to do something with it, but when I was almost done my layout, disaster struck. A huge blob of white pain on the top left corner of my page. Luckily it missed the photo. I tried so hard to make it work. I grabbed a toothpick and dragged the paint around in what was supposed to look like overlapping circles. That wasn't working so I dragged it around some more, hoping for a blustery leaf feeling. That didn't quite work either. So I walked away in hopes that I would love it the next day; that didn't work either.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But then today, a special something arrived at my door.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCBd7JbbrcE/U0XJrKepK4I/AAAAAAAABiY/jBKN_L2dC_Y/s1600/lawnfawnprize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCBd7JbbrcE/U0XJrKepK4I/AAAAAAAABiY/jBKN_L2dC_Y/s1600/lawnfawnprize.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The prize I won from the <a href="http://lawnfawn.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Lawn Fawn blog</a>. Swoon! I knew I had to do something with that grey heart paper and then I remembered this disaster:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmw8aWrH7klZoTbiZDEeHcD8u9XmVKiuN0cqfl7o3QR7_o0_OQ7BWaoF-kpxYpAsgVHlaAnS0DuH9dOkNBkRp91T4_mYl3UYhSmPtuhudrKV8cnKMkuaeOBepoufzfAAob7QTynEef8bGJ/s1600/badlayout.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmw8aWrH7klZoTbiZDEeHcD8u9XmVKiuN0cqfl7o3QR7_o0_OQ7BWaoF-kpxYpAsgVHlaAnS0DuH9dOkNBkRp91T4_mYl3UYhSmPtuhudrKV8cnKMkuaeOBepoufzfAAob7QTynEef8bGJ/s1600/badlayout.jpg" height="307" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Sorry for the bad cell phone picture. I loved this layout at first. And then I didn't love how the confetti on the left side was looking. And I really didn't love the spilled paint and the attempts to work with it. So I pulled up the main part that I still loved (which luckily all came off in one piece). And now I am in love again.<br />

I really like the simplicity of this sketch and that it has multiple photos. You can check out the gallery for this month's sketch <a href="http://canadianscrapbooker.ca/sketchy/showgallery.php?cat=534" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

I just received the MME Now & Then line 'Milo' and was eager to use it! So many beautiful papers in this collection. And yes, my son is eating a leek. I don't know why. He's strange.<br />

We can only use patterned paper, cardstock, alpha stickers, die cuts and cork. These challenges always seem easy until you start working on your project. It's hard not to add other products that you know would look good too!<br />
<br />

<br />
This layout was inspired by one I had pinned a couple of months ago. You can see it <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/53761789276161894/" target="_blank">here</a>. I love the chalkboard look of the background paper with the bright colours on it. I was originally going to also use black cardstock for a background and see if I could get a similar chalk effect with white ink, but I changed my mind and went with a kraft cardstock. I wasn't sure how it would look with the white ink on it, but I really like how it turned out!<br />
<br />
Kraft CARDSTOCK; Fancy Pants "Down by the Shore" PATTERNED PAPER; Thickers ALPHA STICKERS; DIE CUT circles; Studio Calico and American Crafts CORK.<br />

This is a layout I have been wanting to do since I first saw this picture. The look on my son's face is just priceless! It was his first birthday party and his cousin was playing with one of the new toys. I promise that he did not actually get mad at his cousin. He just gave him the death glare and then moved on. I am so glad we captured the moment on film, though!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was having trouble finding a way to use these pics that really hi-lighted both of them, so I turned to my layout board on Pinterest. That's when I came across <a href="http://www.creatingkeepsakesblog.com/blog/2012/01/trend-talk-with-maggie-holmes/" target="_blank">this lovely and so sweet layout be Maggie Holmes</a> and thought the photo placement would really work for my pics. Plus the confetti was a perfect addition for a birthday party layout!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love how this turned out and I am so happy I waited and found the right design for it!</div>

We live on the West Coast, so we don't see a lot of snow in the winter and the first snowfall of the year is always so exciting! Lucky for me, I was able to capture the look of (crazy) excitement on my eldest daughter's face. It only takes a light dusting of the white stuff to get my kids excited!</div>

I used the colours chosen for the Scrapbookin' Adventures newest challenge; robin's egg blue, hot pink, leaf green, navy blue and kraft. I also used the October 2013 sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker. It's one that I have had pinned for a while and am happy to have had a chance to use it!</div>

These bright colours are hard to photograph! I love how this turned out. The little touches of navy make me happy!<br />
