Rolled Paper Christmas Tree Art

I would like to start off by saying thank you to everyone for your kind words for my Favorite Card Ever. And also a humongous thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment on the Xyron posting to help me win!
Voting is still on, so please help me out if you haven't yet!

Today I would like to share a little Christmas project that I whipped up ;)
I was inspired by a project I saw posted on the DCWV blog. (Ooops! That was the wrong link! All fixed now :)

See, just some rolled papers at various lengths. Like the one I saw, I cute the papers in decreasing half inch lengths from 10.5 " to I think 1" was my smallest. I rolled them around a pencil, hot glued them closed and then hot glued them to the painted canvas. While the canvas was still bare and the paint was dry, I sprayed on some shimmer mist (then spread it around with a tissue) to give it a little extra oomph!

Since I had two canvases (or is it 'canvi'??), I decided I would make two. One has a red gift tag, the other a green. Otherwise, they are almost identical.

The toughest part was deciding where (and how) to hang them. I ended up putting them in the blank wall by the stairs. This is what you would see if you were to walk through the front door.

I really like how they look!

Supplies:
2, 12x12 canvas
'Christmas Green' acrylic paint
Perfect Pearls Mist - 'Perfect Pearl'
DCWV - Christmas Stack (from year or two ago?)
Making Memories - Christmas chipboard
Assorted Fancy Pants buttons
Really Reasonable Ribbon - white/green ribbon
White twill ribbon?

If you have any other questions about how I made this or what I used, please feel free to ask!
Gold braid trim?
