This month's sketch at the UmWow Studio blog is another great one and I was eager to do something with it, but when I was almost done my layout, disaster struck. A huge blob of white pain on the top left corner of my page. Luckily it missed the photo. I tried so hard to make it work. I grabbed a toothpick and dragged the paint around in what was supposed to look like overlapping circles. That wasn't working so I dragged it around some more, hoping for a blustery leaf feeling. That didn't quite work either. So I walked away in hopes that I would love it the next day; that didn't work either.
But then today, a special something arrived at my door.
The prize I won from the Lawn Fawn blog. Swoon! I knew I had to do something with that grey heart paper and then I remembered this disaster:
Sorry for the bad cell phone picture. I loved this layout at first. And then I didn't love how the confetti on the left side was looking. And I really didn't love the spilled paint and the attempts to work with it. So I pulled up the main part that I still loved (which luckily all came off in one piece). And now I am in love again.
Supplies:
Lawn Fawn ~ Let's Polka grey/hearts paper
MME ~ Lime Twist 'you and me' stickers
Echo Park ~ This & That chevron paper, wood paper, yellow sticker and circle sticker
Tim Holtz Distress Paint ~ Picket Fence
UmWow Studio ~ flair, star chipboard, star confetti, leaf confetti and chevron confetti
Nina! The paint swirls go perfectly with the leaves!! I do love the heart paper too though and the stars on it!
ReplyDeleteI think what you did with the paint works on the first one, but do like the second with gray background a tad better. The added details are beautiful!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great prize! I always re-do pages I didn't love first time around too. Love the star clusters on the opposite corners of the photo. Thanks for joining in to the Um Wow Studio sketch challenge
ReplyDeleteLove that redo, Nina!!
