Interview with a Toddler

Don't you just love it when a project just falls into your lap! Scrapbookin' Adventures newest facebook challenge is to interview someone and create a layout about it. Lucky for me, I just happened to have "interviewed" my son last summer but had yet to do anything with the info.

This was so much fun! I'm going to have to remember to do another interview with the same questions next month and see what has changed!

Pop-up Birthday card, part 2

Here is the second pop-up card I made last week. This is actually the very first pop-up card that I have made, but I couldn't share it until after the birthday.

This card took a lot longer than the second one to make. I pulled out my Big Shot and cut out flowers and butterflies to go on it. And also the panel with Happy Birthday on it.

I really do love how this one turned out. It's not quite how I pictured it but I am still very happy with it!

And of course a matching envelope. I added the leftover die cut butterflies to it too.

I used a sheet of blue and cream cardstock plus papers from the  Lily Bee Design "Pinwheel" collection.

Pop-up Birthday Card

I've been wanting to give these pop-up birthday cards that everyone is doing, a try for a little while. I have 2 birthday's happening this week (not counting my own!), so I thought this would be the perfect time to try!

This is the second one I made (I will show you the first, after I have given it to the birthday girl), and I kept the embellishments fairly simple. I used the embellishments that came with the collection.

This card makes me happy to look at! It is so darn cheerful!

I even made a matching envelope. I love my envelope punch board!!

I used the tutorial for pop-up cards from Splitcoast Stampers. You can find it here if you would like to give it a try! And they really are very simple to make. I had the base for this second done in about 10 minutes. And that includes the time it took me to pick out the paper!

I used Echo Park's Summer Days collection to make this card. The papers, cardstock stickers, alphas and even the thicker cardboard stickers (sun and roller-coaster).

The messed up card...

I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago and just realized I hadn't! I have some pretty fun birthday cards to post later this week, but for now I will share with you the card I made a mistake on and didn't notice until after I had given it away.

I have seen quite a few versions of a pocket card floating around the internet and I really wanted to try one with flowers.

So cute! I even prettied up the inside!

Did you spot my mistake??? Did I mention I made this card for our amazing Brownie leader, who just happens to also be a teacher??? So embarrassing!!!

With the magic of PicMonkey, this is how it should have looked:

Oops! I can't be the only person to have made a silly mistake like this, right???

The papers for this card are all from Simple Stories (last year's summer line, I believe).

Revisiting a sketch...

Since I first used this sketch for such a small (8x8) layout, I thought it would be nice to give it a try at my usual size (12x12). Of course the 3 photos I want to use are in a vertical orientation, so I had to switch things up a bit to make them work.

The sketch (from Scrapbookin' Adventures):

Canadian Scrapbooker May Sketch

ETA: I forgot that I also wanted to add this layout to the National Scrapbooking Day challenge, "Scrapbooking Rocks Challenge in the Moxie Fab World."

I printed the May sketch from Canadian Scrapbooker last week, and have looked at it a few times trying to think of a way to make it's "messy" look work for me. It was tough, and I may have strayed a bit far from the sketch, but I think you still get the same feel.

The sketch:

My layout:

As you can see, I switched the patches underneath for photos. You can also see that I straightened the photos on the bottom layer and let the top photo fall askew. I tried my hardest to make it work the other way, but it just wasn't happening for me. I also added a skewed paper underneath the photos to add a bit more of that same feeling from the sketch.

If you want to play along, you can see the sketch here and also find the previous sketches!

The papers are all Amy Tan 'Plus One' and the alphas are from Doodlebug :)

Scrapbookin' Adventures Sketch Challenge

I sat down to work on the sketch challenge from Scrapbookin' Adventures, fully planning on doing my usual 12x12 layout, when I came across my daughter's 8th birthday pictures. I have a small album (8x8) that I am currently using for the girl's birthday photo layouts. It is a little bigger than the the first album which is just 6x6 and is also how I started scrapbooking. :)

So I shrunk the sketch down to fit an 8x8. It lost a few elements but kept the same feel.

The sketch:
